The Mexican holiday "Dia de los Muertos“ ("Day of the Death") is known to many.
It contrasts with "Halloween" in that, unlike the latter, it is a colorful and life-affirming holiday. It is celebrated on November 2nd.
Colorful, floral skulls, the "Calaveras" (in English "Sugar Skulls") are anything but frightening and look gorgeous.
This material can be used to bring the subject closer to the students.
First of all, look at some "sugar skulls" together and name the most important features (colors, patterns, mirror symmetry...).
Then give the children the skull template, worksheet, and dice.
The task should be briefly discussed together.
The skulls are suitable for substitution hours as well as for grading.
