This resource includes a board with 30 numbered squares and 30 cards featuring images related to fruit. An interactive version is also included for use with electronic devices.

Option 1: Traditional Board Game

The game can be played as a classic board game using counters and dice. Students take turns to roll the dice and move their counter to the corresponding square. They then select the matching card and either say the name of the fruit or form a sentence using that word.

The first player to reach square number 30 is the winner.

Option 2: Adapted Stick Game

Alternatively, the game can be adapted using the following materials:

• Popsicle sticks
• Permanent markers or stickers (to write the numbers and words)
• A timer
• A container such as a pencil pot, glass, cup, or small bucket

Begin by writing the numbers and words on the popsicle sticks, or by cutting and gluing the words onto them. Once prepared, place all the sticks into the container.

The game can be played in pairs or teams. Taking turns, each student draws a stick from the pot and says the word or forms a sentence based on the number or word on the stick.

To make the game more engaging, include special sticks with the following actions:

• Boom – The player must return all their collected sticks to the pot.
• Super Boom – All teams must return their sticks to the pot, and the game restarts.
• Steal 1 – The player may take one stick from the opposing team.
• Exchange – Teams swap one stick with each other.
• Bonus – The team keeps the stick and takes another turn.
• Miss a Turn – The team skips their next turn.

Winning the Game

The winner is the player or team with the most sticks when the time runs out.

For a greater challenge, players can total the numbers written on their sticks. The team with the highest score wins.
