Young learners can colour their favourite animals from the story 'Brown Owl at the Zoo' and stick them on lolly sticks. The sticks can then be used for various games/activities:1) The teacher uses the key phrase from the rhyming picture book "LIONS are roaring at the zoo! Pandas are eating bamboo!" All the children with a lion/panda etc hold it up.2) The children hold up the sticks as they hear the animals in the story.3) Play a game of change places. The children choose one or two animals on sticks and sit in a circle. The teacher removes a chair and stands in the middle."LIONS!" Anyone with a lion stands up and changes places. The next person in the middle chooses an animal: "CROCODILES!" All the crocodiles change places. If someone calls (BROWN OWL AT THE) ZOO! then everyone changes places.Have fun reading and rhyming with Brown Owl!
