This material concerns the novel "The Giver" by Lois Lowry and includes different role cards that assign students various jobs from the book. It is a form of group work to help students improve their speaking ability.

Students are supposed to have read "The Giver" to be able to work with these cards.

How it works:

- students have to go together in groups of at least 6 people

- every group receives one deck of role cards

- now students assign every group member one of the jobs with the task to give reasons why they chose this particular job

- after that students can have a "Ceremony of Twelve" and explain to the whole class the different job choices
