This bundle of documents provides materials for fostering language acquisition in biology lessons by supporting vocabulary training on the topic of “Mammals”. It contains a list of 60 vocabulary words related to the topic "Mammals" as well as their explanations.
Furthermore, this bundle contains 60 vocabulary cards matching the vocabulary list. These cards facilitate student-centered and differentiated language support. The PowerPoint format of this document makes it easy to print the cards in different sizes.
The A-B-C – Activity, two puzzles (outer structure; outer and inner structure) and a crossword puzzle on mammals are included to provide opportunities to practice this new vocabulary.
The language game “Who belongs to me?” guides students through the process of discovering the terms used to refer to the male animal, the female animal and the offspring of different mammals. It contains a template for creating a vocabulary wheel and a table in which to collect the results.
The game „Mammal Safari“ motivates students to describe mammals to each other while avoiding certain predetermined words. Each set of cards contains 24 animal cards as well as the game instructions. To make this game useable for students, simply print the PDF document included here double-sided on thick paper. This enables your students to cut out the cards and learn with them.
In this unit, special attention is given to describing the outer appearance of mammals. For this purpose, a worksheet offers seven progressive exercises on the vocabulary and phrasing used to describe the outer appearance of mammals. They build upon the skills acquired in the unit “birds”.
Solutions for all tasks are included in this bundle.
