This bundle of documents provides materials for fostering language acquisition in biology lessons by supporting vocabulary training on the topic of “Birds”. It contains a list of 60 vocabulary words related to the topic "Birds" as well as their explanations.

Furthermore, this bundle contains 60 vocabulary cards matching the vocabulary list. These cards facilitate student-centered and differentiated language support. The PowerPoint format of this document makes it easy to print the cards in different sizes.

 The A-B-C – Activity and a crossword puzzle on birds are included to provide opportunities to practice this new vocabulary.

 In this unit, special attention is given to learning how to describe diagrams. This skill was already introduced in the unit “Reptiles”, and it gets enlarged upon and practiced here. A worksheet offers a complex exercise on describing diagrams as well as presenting data in the form of texts, tables, and charts. For this, the students work in small interconnected groups.

 Another language focus in this unit is describing the outer appearance of birds. For this purpose, a worksheet offers seven progressive exercises on the vocabulary and phrasing used to describe the outer appearance of birds.
