This fun Thanksgiving activity to practise present progressive that will get your students out of their seats and moving around!There are 2 levels.Level 1 - Find it!Hang up the cards (no names!) around the room. (Only use cards 1,2,4,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,15,16 for a shorter activity or cards 1-18 for a longer activity)Give each student a worksheetStudents read the sentences on their worksheet, and walk around the room to find the matching picture. When they find it, they write the number of the picture next to the sentence.Level 2 - Write it!Hang up the cards around the room. Give each student a worksheetStudents walk around the room and find the picture which has the same number as on their worksheet. They look at the picture and write a sentence in present progressive to describe what the Thanksgiving turkey in the picture is doing. I have also included flashcards with the 18 actions that you can use to review the verbs before the activity. Once the students have finished, you can use the cards to play a miming game.A student comes to the front of the class and mimes what the turkey is doing and everyone has to guess what the action is. To make the game easier, the teacher can read the sentence out, and the kids have to mime the action together.

The more difficult version doesn't have a word list.You can use this worksheet at the beginning of a lesson on Thanksgiving to give students a reference guide. It can also be used at the end of the lesson to test what the students have learned.There is a colour version of the worksheet too. The words can be cut out and placed/glued on the table.
