Descripción

This resource includes a board with 30 numbered squares and 30 cards featuring gap-fill sentences. Students must complete the sentences using personal pronouns (subject, object and reflexive pronouns) and possessives (possessive adjectives and pronouns).

An interactive version is also included for use on electronic devices.

On the one hand, the game can be played as a traditional board game using counters and a die. Students take turns to roll the die and move their counter to the corresponding square. They then select the matching card and complete the sentence using the appropriate personal pronoun or possessive form.

On the other hand, the game can be adapted to be played following the rules of “Kaboom”. For this version, you will need the following materials: lollipop sticks, permanent markers or stickers to write the numbers and words, a timer, and a container such as a pencil pot, glass, cup or small bucket. First, write the numbers and special words on the sticks, or cut and stick the labels onto them. Then place all the sticks in the container.

This version can be played in pairs or teams. Students take turns to pick a stick from the container and complete the sentence corresponding to the number on it. In addition to numbered sticks, include the following special ones to make thegame more engaging:

  • “Boom” = the student must return all their collected sticks to the container.

  • “Super Boom” = both teams return all their sticks to the container and the game restarts.

  • “Steal 1” = the team takes one stick from the opposing team.

  • “Exchange” = both teams swap one stick.

  • “Bonus” = the team keeps the stick and takes another turn.

  • “Miss a turn” = the team loses their next turn.

The winner is the player or team with the most sticks when the time runs out.

To increase the level of challenge, you can assign points to the numbers on the sticks and calculate a total score. In this case, the winner is the team with the highest number of points.
