These St. Patrick's Day Read and Colour worksheets are a fun way to practise reading comprehension. They are especially good for motivating and supporting kids with reading difficulties.There are 4 different worksheets, and each worksheet comes in two different levels so you can pick the best level for each student.Students read the text and colour the picture as described.As the entire picture isn't coloured in at the end of the activity, you can extend the activity by doing speaking, listening or writing tasks!Listening: describe the other parts of the picture to the students. They listen to you, and colour rest of the picture in as you have described.Speaking: working in pairs, do the same activity as above but the students describe rather than the teacher.Writing: students glue the worksheet into their exercise book. They colour in the rest of the picture and then they write sentences to describe what they have coloured. (They can use the text on the worksheet to help them write their sentences.)

This story walk is a fun activity for St. Patrick's Day  and it will get all of your students moving!Before the activity, put the pictures up on the wall around the classroom, or even better in a larger space like the corridor or outside. Students read each part of the text and find the matching picture. They then write the letter of that picture on their worksheet. At the end of the activity, they can check their answers to find out the mystery message!The story walk is available at 6 different levels so you can use this activity in many different classes, or simply pick the best level for each student in your class. There are also  extension activities at different levels for students to complete after the story walk. The cut & glue activity is a multi-sensory reading activity which is particularly good for dyslexic learners.The sequencing and matching cards are good for learners that need more practise with the text. This activity is also available at different levels. The students must match the sentences to the correct pictures and then put the pictures in the correct order.There are gap-fill and reading activities that students can do after the story walk.There is also a vocabulary worksheet. This can be done before the story walk to check the students understand the basic story.

This fun chain game is a great way to practise St. Patrick's Day vocabulary.How to play:Divide the cards between the students. The person with the first card begins.A: 'I have the first card. Who has the shamrock?'B: 'I have the shamrock. Who has Ireland?'C: 'I have Ireland. Who has March?'The game continues like this until the last card.This game is a quick way to learn vocabulary and to practise pronunciation.Tip: Use a stopwatch and see how fast your students can get to the end. Each time they play, they should try to beat their record.

This is a fun matching game to practise St Patrick's Day vocabulary.Put all the cards face down on the table. Each player takes it in turns to turn over two cards - if they are a pair (matching words & picture) then the player keeps the cards.The player with the most cards at the end of the game, wins!
