Tired of video conferences where you only have students read out texts and/or compare exercises?
Then this might be something for you.
In a game called "How well do you know your fellow classmates?", students are teamed up in groups of three.
Scaffolding then helps students form questions with "to do" ("Do you have a favourite jumper?"), and to give short answers ("Yes, I do"/No, I don't). The point is that later their group member has to guess what they answered ("Does Klaus have a favourite jumper?" - "No, he doesn't / Yes, he does").
Because every correct answer scores a point, some friendly competition is encouraged, which, in my experience, is something young students really enjoy.
As an added bonus, questions with "to be" are included, too.
Students are also encouraged to form their own questions, which is a way of implementing so-called "Binnendifferenzierung" into your online conferences.
Enjoy.
