Stop & Swap Cards English | Speaking Cards & Conversation Practice | Sek I
Get your students talking! 🗣️
With these varied Stop & Swap Cards, students can practice speaking freely in English lessons in an uncomplicated and motivating way.
The cards contain short, student-oriented conversation questions on various topics from the learners' lives. This is not about "right" or "wrong" answers, but about actively using English, reacting to interlocutors and speaking increasingly confidently freely.
The principle is very simple:
Ask – Listen – Share – Enjoy!
The learners are each given a card, move through the classroom and look for a conversation partner. Both ask their question, answer their counterpart's question and listen to each other. They then swap their cards and look for a new partner. This creates many small English conversations in a short time – with changing people and always new questions.
Due to the changing interlocutors, the material is particularly suitable for getting as many students as possible to speak at the same time.
The cards address various everyday and motivating topics, including, for example:
Hobbies & Free Time · School Life · Food & Drinks · Music · Animals · The Seasons · Family & Friends · Movies & TV · Holidays & Travel · Sports · Technology
The questions range from simple personal conversation starters such as "What is your favourite sport? Why?" to questions where learners can justify their opinions and speak in a little more detail.
This allows the cards to be flexibly adapted to different learning groups and learning levels.
