The aim of this card game is to practise yes/no questions and short answers using the verb “have got” and vocabulary related to hairstyles. This game is based on the classic card game Go Fish, in which students try to find matching pairs and collect as many as possible. Instructions: The teacher should print two copies of the resource. Shuffle the cards and deal them so that each student has five cards (or seven in small groups / three in larger groups). Place the remaining cards face down in a pile at the centre of the table. Students take turns playing the game. On their turn, a student asks another classmate if they have a particular card, using the question written on the card (e.g. “Has Emma got long curly brown hair?”). If the classmate has the card, they answer with the short answer (“Yes, she has.”) and give the card to the student who asked the question. If the classmate does not have the card, they reply with the negative short answer (“No, she hasn’t.”). Other students then say “Go Fish!”, and the student who asked the question takes one card from the pile. The game continues until all cards have been paired. The student with the most pairs at the end is the winner.
Klassenstufen: 6-7. Klasse
Engage pupils in learning physical descriptions with this interactive guessing game inspired by the classic Guess the Person format. Pupils work in pairs and take turns asking yes/no questions in order to identify the mystery character chosen by their partner. Based on the answers given, they eliminate the characters that do not match the description. Example questions: Has the person got dark hair? If the answer is Yes, she has, pupils remove all characters whose hair is not dark. This process supports the development of logical thinking, careful listening, and spoken language skills. This resource consists of two sets of 32 cards to practise vocabulary related to hairstyles: 32 cards with colour images of female hairstyles 32 cards with descriptions of the hairstyles The aim of the game is to match each description with the corresponding picture. It can be played in different ways: Option 1: The teacher reads the descriptions aloud and lays the image cards face up on the table. Students listen carefully to the teacher’s clues and choose the correct card. Option 2: Place all the cards face down and use them to play a memory game. In this version, students can read the descriptions themselves. The winner is the student who collects the most pairs.
