Lesson plan including material and a card game "The Midnight Society"(adapted version of the popular class game) for EFL/ESL classroomsDuration: 75 - 90 minutesLevel: B1-B2Description:The lesson provides an introduction to activate the students' previous knowledge on the topic of Sherlock Holmes and detective stories. This is then linked to new knowledge (via PowerPoint, handout and a video). Finally, the students are asked to become detectives themselves and use the vocabulary they have learnt. For this purpose, the popular class game was adapted for this lesson and called "The Midnight Society", in which the villagers/detectives have to find out who the murderers are. The specific instructions for the game, as well as an accompanying PowerPoint with a short back story, are also included in this pack.The game can also be used individually and is a good end-of-year activity. Lesson Plan including material to introduce the Will Future in EFL/ESL classrooms.Duration: 75 minutesLevel: B1Description:The lesson begins with a small puzzle in which the students have to recognise for themselves how the Will Future is formed and when it is used. Afterwards, the students are asked to discuss three predictions in a small discussion round. Using the handout, students deepen the theory once again and the Will Future is also applied in a few written exercises. Then there is a short introduction to the topic of fortune tellers before the students themselves slip into the roles of fortune tellers and their customers to apply the theory they have learnt in a playful way.
