This material is perfect for improving your students' writing and vocabulary regard. It matches the topic of natural disasters (e.g. More! 3 Unit12) perfectly. 

Start with brainstorming some of the phrases for writing a dramatic story on the board. Suggested phrases include

• verbs (e.g. utter, escape, snatch, flee, ...),
• adjectives (catastrophic, deadly, panic-stricken, ...),
• linking words (consequently, despite, all of a sudden, ...),
• adverbs (desperately, unexpectedly, ...) 
• and other advanced phrases (e.g. against all odds). 

After brainstorming these vocab words with the students, hand out the vocab worksheet. There they need to apply their new knowledge and fill in the missing words. All sentences deal with the topic of survival and natural disasters. Solutions are included. Enjoy :-)
