These idioms will bring some St. Patrick's Day fun into your classroom!

There are 12 idioms and phrases in this set and 12 definitions based around luck.

Introduce your students to the idioms by giving each student a card and get them to find their partner (idiom & definition). Everyone can work together to see if they can match the cards up. Alternatively, they can work in small groups to match up the cards.

There‘s also a worksheet with the same activity which students can do afterwards.

Once the students have matched up the idioms and definitions, they can move onto the next worksheet and re-write the sentences using the correct idiom.

Next students can do the partner interview. This put the idioms into an authentic context and is great speaking practice.

To finish with, the students can write their own creative story!
